Whitehaven boasts several excellent visitor attractions which illustrate its colourful history.
- Explore The Beacon Museum with its interactive displays.
- Tour The Rum Story and learn about rum production, the shipbuilding industry and Whitehaven's part in the slave trade.
Whitehaven also has a wide selection of specialist shops, bars and restaurants within 5 minutes’ walk of the marina.
- Sporting facilities in the town include a swimming pool, sports centre, and golf course.
- Rosehill Theatre runs a varied programme of events throughout the year, with theatre, music, films and children’s shows all on offer.
The surrounding natural environment provides a wealth of activities for all ages. The Lake District National Park is within easy reach and the scenic coastline provides beaches, cliff walks, a local RSPB reserve, as well as panoramic views to the Isle of Man and SW Scotland.
Whitehaven is also the official starting point for the popular cross country cycle tour, the Coast to Coast (C2C), while the picturesque village of St Bee’s, 4 miles south of Whitehaven is the start of the ‘Coast to Coast’ walk.
