Fairline Squadron 58 in the shed

Wednesday, December 19th, 2012

Whitehaven Marina welcomed a Fairline Squadron 58 to the boatyard this month – the third of its type to visit the marina with the same owner.  Like the previous two, the boat was cleaned antifouled, polished and reassembled at Whitehaven – testimony to the fantastic standard of service offered by the team.  The boat spent a week in the shed with the owner choosing the marina because of the facilities and quality of work available.

November lock closure – advance notice

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

We would like to make berth holders and visitors of Whitehaven Marina aware of a two-day lock closure on the 27th & 28th November.  As part of our ongoing commitment and investment to improve the marina for our customers we must carry out essential maintenance works to replace one of the huge hydraulic cylinders on the outer gates.  To ensure the marina and town are both protected from the Irish Sea it is vital we continue to maintain the lock to ensure its stability and reliability.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will do our best to assist you should you have and special requirements in this time.  Please contact us if you have any questions.

Please note that we will be carrying out our annual maintenance programme in the new year with the lock being closed for a week.  We will advise you of the dates for this nearer the time.

Interesting fact for the day: the gates weigh a massive 56 tonnes each!!

Winter maintenance in action

Friday, October 5th, 2012

It’s that time of year again for the Whitehaven Marina team to commence the Winter Maintenance Programme.  Work has begun on the South Harbour Pontoons with three of the five already pressure washed in the first week of October.

Over the coming weeks, the team will continue to pressure wash the pontoons as well as replacing damaged boards, fixing cleats, cleaning bollards and replacing emergency pods that need attention.  In addition they will also be cleaning the Bulwark Quay and Boatyard.

If you have any specific requests or suggestions for us to look at please don’t hesitate to contact Marina Supervisor, Tony Taylor.
