On The Water Weekend, 26-28 April

Wednesday, March 20th, 2013

Whitehaven Marina is participating in the British Marine Federation’s (BMF) On the Water weekend.  The marina will have several exhibitors and a Boat Jumble on the 27th April, and will also be offering 2 for 1 on visitor berthing from the 26th to 28th April.

To take part in the marina’s very own Boat Jumble on Saturday 27th April, “sellers” must pay a £5 RNLI donation to park on the Bulwark Quay and sell unwanted boating bits and chandlery.  It’s the perfect time of year to have a clear out, sell the spares and perhaps pick up a bargain for the forthcoming season!!

Visitors can also talk to the team about Active Marina, designed to help boat owners get the most out of life with their boat.  Find out about the full Active Marina Programme that includes free workshops and demonstrations as well a Cruise in Company and other events.

ChrisDobson Marine will be demonstrating the latest Raymarine equipment, advising on what kit to fit and taking bookings for free on board “electrical health checks”.

The St. Bees’ RNLI safety team will be providing general boating safety advice and free life jacket checks, as well as one-on-one on-board tailored advice.

For those looking for new spares, the Whitehaven Marina team will have a small chandlery stall where boat owners can purchase items such as anodes, antifoul and ropes.

In addition Whitehaven Marina is offering 2 for 1 berthing – with two nights for the price of one over the weekend, 26th – 28th April.

Any boat owners wishing to book a berth or if you want a stall in the Boat Jumble, contact the marina on 01946 692435 or email enquiries@whitehavenmarina.co.uk to book.

November lock closure – advance notice

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

We would like to make berth holders and visitors of Whitehaven Marina aware of a two-day lock closure on the 27th & 28th November.  As part of our ongoing commitment and investment to improve the marina for our customers we must carry out essential maintenance works to replace one of the huge hydraulic cylinders on the outer gates.  To ensure the marina and town are both protected from the Irish Sea it is vital we continue to maintain the lock to ensure its stability and reliability.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will do our best to assist you should you have and special requirements in this time.  Please contact us if you have any questions.

Please note that we will be carrying out our annual maintenance programme in the new year with the lock being closed for a week.  We will advise you of the dates for this nearer the time.

Interesting fact for the day: the gates weigh a massive 56 tonnes each!!
