Looking forward to this weekend’s Lakes Alive Festival

August 6, 2013

2 for 1 visitor nights, free slipway use and lifting and launching discounts

We are looking forward to the annual event from Friday 9th to Friday 16th August that promises to entertain all the family with explosive dance, family cabaret, evocative sound installations and fiery spectacles.  There will be shows in the harbour on Friday 9th, Saturday 10th and Friday 16th August and we are offering a selection of great offers.

All boats visiting the marina for the festival will be entitled to 2 for 1 berthing nights, and those bringing their boat by road can use the slipway for free and make use of our discounted lift and launch services.

Lakes Alive provides the perfect opportunity for boat owners to visit Whitehaven Marina and make the most of the superb town centre location, enjoying the bars and restaurants as well as the festival atmosphere.  In addition to the shoreside offerings, visitors can take the chance to explore some of the local cruising grounds of Whitehaven.

Performances at Whitehaven include:

EL FOC DEL MAR BY XARXA Friday 9th & Saturday 10th at 21.30

Prepare to be spell-bound by the magic of one of Europe’s leading outdoor theatre groups, as they perform the spectacular Fire of the Sea show.

El foc del mar

CAPTIVE BY MOTION HOUSE Friday 16th at 12.30

A breathtaking and intoxicating dance piece performed by four dancers in a large cage.  Disorientated and shaken, they use skill and instinct to survive a dazzling performance at breakneck speed. Powerfully physical, emotionally charged and an extraordinary blend of dance and aerial work.

A show that falls somewhere between circus, cabaret and fairground amusement; a fun and frantic show for the whole family. With magic, tap-dancing, acrobatics, balancing feats, comedy and more the show explodes into a succession of exploits.

Lakes Alive is a free event open to all providing the ideal excuse to explore new boating horizons.  Visit Whitehaven Marina and enjoy our high level facilities and customer service.
